Waste

Dear Readers,
BIG NEWS!! Okay so I've discovered something that is going to make any fashionistas head spin. All of you know how much I love H&M, who doesn't? They have amazing pieces and collections for everyones taste. Honestly, I never walk into an H&M without coming out with at least one bag. Their clothes are both timeless and beautiful, among other things. Plus, thanks to their collaboration with Lanvin, I've grown to adore them even more. If that's even possible. Well recently I have found out that H&M will be creating a line called Waste, that will be specializing in left over pieces from the recent Lanvin Collection. Last year the store threw away tons of it's unsold clothes in New York. I think this is a brilliant idea and will sure to be just as big as Lanvin <3 H&M. The collection will consist of 10 pieces and will be hitting stores sometime in February. Not only is this an amazing idea but it's a great way to go green. Not to mention a fashionable way to go green and here we thought we'd have to wear kemp or organic cotton all the time. Yeah, not really a good look for me. So if you're as big as a Lanvin and H&M fan as I am, you're going to die for this collection. It is truly one of my favorite things to look forward to for 2011!

Kardashian Takeover

Dear Readers,
Silly Bandz are becoming one of the latest trends worldwide, who would have thought? Now at first, I had no idea what Silly Bandz were until my 7 year old cousin let me in on the little secret. Till this day I thank her for informing me because I never leave the house without at least seven on my wrist. Not only are they adorably cute but they make an excellent hair tie. With all the cute shapes and colors, you too will find yourself buying a couple of packs of this popular new trend. It seems that I am not the only person who finds Silly Bandz as fabulous. It seems Miss Kim Kardashian thinks so too! The brown-eyed-beauty has took it upon herself to create her own line of Silly Bandz. The funky bracelets come in a variety of shapes and colors including her perfume bottle, the DASH logo and even silhouettes of Kim, Kourtney and Khloe. I honestly think these are just "to die for" and can not wait to get my hands on a pair. I'm sure girls of all ages feel the same way as I do and I'm sure they will be seen everywhere if not on everyone. What do you think? Do you think these are a brilliant idea or just another lame idea a celebrity had? Either way, the Kardashians are definitely broadening their horizons when it comes to fashion!

Shooting For Classic

Dear Readers,
I'm always on the lookout for the next big trend and also what's comfortable because as much as I love to dress up, I also like to be comfortable. It's kind of hard to be comfortable and trendy all at the same time but I think I've found a solution. Yes, I have found a trend that is both fabulous and comfy. If you're a classic movie fanatic like I am then you're pretty familiar with the one and only Miss Katherine Hepburn. The woman is and always will be a trendsetter till this very day. She was the only one brave enough to wear pants when everyone else around her was wearing dresses. She is the one who made "the trouser" an iconic piece of fashion till this very day. Thus bringing me to the reason of this post. Trousers are as trendy as they are comfy. If you're looking to pull off a masculine vibe just tuck a button up mens shirt in a pair of tan trousers and pull the look together with some black pumps. Alas, you've got a fabulous new outfit and it didn't even take hours to find. Or if you're going for an  equestrian look just pair the trousers with a aviator cape or add some lace to it. Pull the entire look together with some killer riding boots and you're all set for a day at the stables. Although to be honest, I doubt you'll want to get even near a stable in that amazing outfit. Anyways, it seems that "the trouser" is here to stay and to be frank, I'm completely filled with elation!

Feeling Inspired

Dear Readers,
So whenever I'm needing some inspiration for creating a new outfit I just head online and scope out some of the best fashion blogs. It's no secret that I'm a huge fan of Rumi Neely and wish I could live in her wardrobe. Although the visual of that thought just makes me laugh hysterically. So maybe living in Rumi's closet isn't a sensible one but a girl can dream. Lately I've been obsessing over the whole mod inspired look. I love stripes and cropped cable knit sweaters. They're my absolute favorite look right now and I just adore including them into my outfits. When I'm creating a new outfit it's all about being inspired. Whether it's a song that I here on the radio or glimpse of model in Vogue, I'm always on the hunt for inspiration. So here are a couple of things that have inspired me to create some amazing outfits. Hopefully they'll inspire you to create something as amazing and gorge!

Golden Globes Fashion!!

Dear Lovers,
I feel horrible, I've committed a sin, I've been neglecting my blog but not on purpose. I've just been super busy lately that I've had no time at all but no more. From now on Truffles will be my main priority. About the same time every year I get this warm and exciting feeling deep down.  You know that feeling at the pit of your stomach when you know something great is about to happen. Well in my case that something great just so happens to be the Golden Globes. Now, even though I didn't get to attend the Globes myself, I watched from my 36 inch flat screen so I caught every miss and hit perfectly. So if you watched the Golden Globes on Sunday I'm sure you've got a glimpse at amazing fashion and some not so amazing fashion. Even though I'm a bit late I've decided to post some of my favorite looks that night. I've decided to not list the horrible outfits because I think if I did, I'd get a little carried away and get myself in some trouble. So I hope you enjoy and ma it bring you inspiration to create something just as fabulous!

                                                            1. Olivia Wilde
Sparkles have been a huge trend already but on Sunday they were everywhere you looked. I loved, loved, loved this dress. As soon as she walked onto the read carpet I almost dropped the bowl of popcorn I was eating and squealed like a little girl. This is like my dream wedding dress, white's overrated. She looked absolutely gorge in the Marchesa gown although the bangs are a little much but other than that, she rocked the look. Not to mention the to die for spiked Christian Louboutins that remained on her feet. Honestly, she looked like gothic barbie doll, in a good way. I give her an A ++++.

2. Leighton Meester

OMFG! Just like her character on Gossip Girl, Leighton can do no wrong when it comes to fashion and the Globes were no exception. Leighton looked absolutely beautiful that night. Her hair, make-up and outfit are just simply gorgeous. The Burberry Prorsum gown just fits perfectly on her figure and she wears the dress, not the other way around. I loved the dramatic sleeve and color of the gown, it was just effortless. I was seeing a lot of the shoulder pad trend going around on the red carpet. This is a low key way to rock that trend and she definitely rocked it.

3. Sarah Hyland
I am a huge fan of Modern Family and it's constantly on my Tivo. Sarah looked just amazing on Sunday. The beaded Max Azria gown goes well with her skin color and the pearls just mesh really well with the look. It's such a stunning dress and I just envy her for getting to wear it. She looks like a bronzed mermaid, beautiful.

4. Anne Hathaway
There's just nothing more to say, just look at her! Anne looked radiant in this Armani Prive gown. Once again we see the dramatic shoulder trend. I personally adore this trend and it was huge on the red carpet on Sunday. Everything just goes well together. Her hair, make-up and jewelry are just on  target. She looked absolutely charming, loved the whole thing!

5. Mila Kunis

Last but certainly anything but least is Mila, she looked absolutely divine in this Vera Wang gown. Green was a main color on the red carpet this year at the Globes. Everyone from Angelinia Jolie to Catherine Zeta Jones was caught in some shade of green this year. Mila  complimented this outfit with some Lorraine Schwartz jewlery and YSL shoes. The whole outfit may have cost a fortune but the way she probably felt when she put on this dress, priceless!

Dear Darlings,
It's 4:30 on a brisk Saturday morning here in D.C. What you know, I'm blogging. It seems that old Blogspot.com has got me whipped. Anyways, so I hope all of you had a good week and hopefully haven't forgotten your New Year's resolutions already. Me, I never seem to keep up with anything. Yup, I'm a slacker...oh well. so I was cleaning out my closet earlier today and I realized something. Yes, a huge light bulb was resting above my head I'm sure. I realized that the things I was throwing away were things that could simply change an outfit into fabulous instead of totally drab. I hadn't realized before that I have a lot of different things that could be worn in different ways. Take a simple white mens buttoned shirt from The Gap that I had convinced myself I was over with. Thinking that there was no other possible way to wear the shirt, I was wrong. I had took the shirt and tucked it into these new tweed shorts I had just bought at Urban Outfitters. I then finished the outfit off with some simple black opaque tights from F21 and a headband with a huge bow on it.  Once I had looked into the oversized mirror in my bedroom, I was convinced the shirt was not going to Good Will. Blair Waldorf would have been oh so proud. I had then found two other new ways to wear the shirt and was glad I didn't give it away. You see, when you think you're through with something and have had enough of it, think twice because a second look could give you a whole new perspective. Just thinking about it now makes me wonder about the other pieces of clothing I've thrown away in the past without even thinking twice about it. I wonder if one of those pieces of fabric could have changed my entire closet. Then we sometimes have that one key piece that could transform your entire wardrobe. I mean to say that you may see an adorable cardigan but may only wear it once. When I go shopping I always have a strategy.

1. Before I walk into a mall without an idea of what I'm going to buy, I first look online and see what I want before I walk into that store. That way I know what I'm looking for and don't just go crazy buying every single cute thing I lay my eyes upon.

2. When it comes to picking clothing, I always ask myself if it's something I like or love. If it's something I like but aren't too crazy about, I put it back. Now on the other hand if it's something I absolutely cannot live without and absolutely adore, I get it.

3. Last but not least, I always think of my wardrobe at home. I picture what will the piece of clothing go well with and if I can wear it numerous times. If I find out that it doesn't really belong in my wardrobe or can only be worn once, I don't end up getting it.

You see when you go shopping always have a strategy or else you're going to spend way to much money than you set out to spend. Always make sure how much money you instead to spend as well. Unless you're extremely rich or a celebrity, be careful how much money you spend. Because sometimes that beautiful Coach turquoise messenger bag may look appealing at the register but once you've spent the dough, you're having seconds thoughts. It's happened to me too many times before hence why I've invented a strategy. Don't get me wrong though, I love to shop and do whenever I can. I just know how to spend my money wisely I guess  you could say, although to some people that may sound confusing and contradicting. Oh well, hope you all have a great weekend and if you are planning on going shopping, think before you buy. Strategize and come up with a way to make your money last. Or you can end up with thousands of items in your closet that will never see the light of day. But hey, they were cute at the moment. It's you choice, spend or save?

Dear Readers,
Happy New Year! Yes, it seems we have stumbled upon yet another year without warning. It's funny how they just seem to creep up on us without even noticing. It literally feels as though I was just celebrating 2010 and with just the blink of an eye, I'm celebrating 2011. It's even weird to say. I wonder how many people out there have made resolutions they'll forget by February. It seems we keep making the same ones and they never seem to stick. Loosing weight, not eating as much junk food, being a better person, they all scream mundane. If only we could make a resolution that would mean something. Like helping out a total stranger in need, doing something completely selfless, getting off our asses and trying to make the world a better place. That last one was a bit overachieving but why not shoot for the moon? I think we've just lost the will to do something amazing for someone else we've just given up. America has become lazy, that's a bit of an understatement. I mean every time I go out to dinner with friends or to work, I see idiots on the metro drunk as hell. I mean literally it's every weekend and it made me think, is this all there is to life? Going out and getting plastered until we feel numb? Surely there has to be something more than this. Plus whenever I a homeless person I always see people ignoring them like they're not sitting out there in the cold, begging for money. It's heartbreaking what this world has come to. The world isn't all about shopping for those perfect shoes because there is a person out there who has none. It isn't about getting a reservation at that new overpriced Sushi place downtown because somewhere out there, someone hasn't had a meal all day let alone all week. Life is so much more and out there people need our help but what do we do instead of helping them, we ignore them  because it's too painful to face. Well have you ever thought that, that person once had a family like you. Once had a job and an income just like you. Picture yourself out there in the freezing cold, could you handle it? Could you handle being ignore when you called out for help? I seriously doubt it.
I say this because I didn't always have a solid job and a decent income. I lived in a one bedroom apartment with my mother and brother and you could say things got a bit, crowded. Now my mom has a great job and a amazing apartment in a nice neighborhood and as for me. I have a great job that I love and a nice little studio apartment but like I said, things weren't always so perfect. I guess what I'm trying to say is that you should be grateful for what you have because there are people who aren't as lucky. There people out there who don't have a family or a home. So maybe next time you see someone sitting on the curb with a cup in their hand asking for a dollar, put yourself in their shoes. Let's make this year the year we start making a difference because one person can't do it alone. Imagine the change we could make if we work together as a team. Instead of making a difference, we'd be staring a revolution. Okay, I think I've had my John Lennon moment already. Hope you all have an amazing year and let's start making a difference!
